Shelley Duvall, Actress Best Known for 'The Shining,' Dies at 75

Actress Shelley Duvall, best known for her role in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining," has died at the age of 75.

Duvall's death was confirmed by her publicist, who said the actress died in her sleep on Sunday. No cause of death was immediately released.

Duvall's career spanned five decades, and she appeared in more than 60 films and television shows. She rose to fame in the 1970s, appearing in a number of acclaimed Robert Altman films, including "MASH," "McCabe & Mrs. Miller," and "Nashville."

She also starred in Woody Allen's "Annie Hall" and Terry Gilliam's "Time Bandits." However, Duvall's most iconic role was as Wendy Torrance in Kubrick's 1980 horror classic "The Shining."

Later in her career, Duvall struggled with mental illness and largely withdrew from the public eye. She rarely gave interviews and made only a handful of public appearances in recent years.

Duvall's death is a tragic loss for the entertainment industry and her fans. She was a talented and versatile actress who will be remembered for her unforgettable performances in some of the most iconic films of the 20th century.
