Argentinian Completes Over Decade-Long MLS Career

Former Real Madrid and Juventus Striker to Leave Field After March 18 Match

Major League Soccer (MLS) fans have just two weeks left to see Inter Miami striker Gonzalo Higuaín on the field as he prepares to retire from professional football.

The 35-year-old Argentine forward announced his decision to hang up his boots after Inter Miami’s match against the New England Revolution on March 18.

Higuaín's departure will mark the end of a remarkable career that has spanned over 17 years and seen him play for some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Real Madrid, Juventus, and Chelsea.

Higuaín's Accomplishments

During his time in MLS, Higuaín made a significant impact on the league, scoring 29 goals in 67 appearances for Inter Miami.

Prior to joining MLS, Higuaín enjoyed a trophy-laden career in Europe, winning three Serie A titles with Juventus and two La Liga titles with Real Madrid.

He is also Argentina's fifth-highest goalscorer of all time and played a pivotal role in his country's run to the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil.

"You’re Gone"

According to teammate Bryce Duke, Higuaín's impending retirement has been met with a mix of sadness and admiration within the Inter Miami squad.

"It's been an honor to play alongside Gonzalo," Duke said.

"He's a true legend of the game, and we're all going to miss him a lot. But we're also proud of him for what he's accomplished and wish him all the best in his retirement."

The Match

Higuaín's final match for Inter Miami will be against the New England Revolution on March 18 at DRV PNK Stadium.

Fans are expected to turn out in droves to pay tribute to the Argentine star as he bids farewell to the MLS.

Tickets for the match are still available on the Inter Miami website.
